Experiences of survivors of sexual assault

April 2, 2011

In conjunction with sexual assault awareness month, the Women and Gender Advocacy Center will host the Women at Noon program, 'The experiences of survivors of sexual assault.' We'll talk about the experiences of primary and secondary survivors and you'll learn how to respond to and support someone who discloses that they are a survivor.

The Kathryn T. Bohannon Women at Noon series presents, "The experiences of survivors of sexual assault," in honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM). This session will focus on the best ways to support survivors of sexual assault.

We will:

  • Review common myths surrounding sexual assault,
  • Discuss the experiences of primary and secondary survivors,
  • Discuss strategies for responding to or supporting someone who discloses that they are a survivor.
