2014-15 schedule of University holidays

February 27, 2014

Update your calendars now: HR has released the University-wide holdiay schedule for the upcoming year that starts on July 1.

The State Personnel Board has given academic institutions the authority to substitute days that coincide with the academic schedule for the 10 legal holidays.
Following is Colorado State University’s Holiday schedule for the 2014-2015 fiscal year:

  • Friday, July 4, 2014
  • Monday, Sept. 1, 2014
  • Thursday, Nov. 27, 2014
  • Friday, Nov. 28, 2014
  • Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2014
  • Thursday, Dec. 25, 2014
  • Friday, Dec. 26, 2014
  • Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015
  • Monday, Jan. 19, 2015
  • Monday, May 25, 2015

Hourly employees are not entitled to payment for holidays unless work is actually performed on the day of observance.

Individual departments

Further, individual departments whose responsibilities dictate unusual work schedules may establish holiday schedules which deviate from the University’s schedule.  Time off for employees to participate in religious services (e.g., Good Friday) should be charged to annual leave or time must be made up by rearrangement of the work schedule within the same workweek.  Free time off for religious services is not authorized, according to Governor’s Executive Order dated Dec. 1, 1972.

The 2001 State Legislature designated March 31 as Cesar Chavez Day.  However, this day was not added as a paid state holiday.  Employees and departments interested in additional information on Caesar Chavez Day should contact Human Resources or review the material under the Benefits Section of the HR website.
