North side housing district landscaping detours

May 29, 2014

The north side housing district, encompassing the area including Durward Hall, Westfall Hall, Palmer Center, Durrell Center, Laurel Village, Corbett Hall, and Parmelee Hall, is slated for a $1.5 million overhaul this summer that will bring innovative landscaping, additional bike parking, and new outdoor activity areas to the north residential zone of campus.

Corbett CourtyardHousing & Dining Services is working with Russell+Mills Studios to design exterior landscaping that will create attractive, functional spaces that tie together residential buildings and outdoor areas to form a cohesive corridor.

Fencing has been erected around construction areas, which will result in detoured approaches to buildings over the course of the summer.

Corbett courtyard will be offline for the remainder of summer; guests visiting Corbett Dining Center should enter the building through Parmelee Dining Center during summer dining hours beginning June 1. Conference guests will have access to Corbett through the northeast arcade entrance and D-wing.

Both entrances are wheelchair accessible and allow access to an elevator located on the north end of the building. Durrell Center summer dining hours continue through May 31.

Durward and Westfall Halls will not be accessible from the courtyard entrances. Guests should visit Westfall Hall from the west parking lot entrance. Durward Hall can be accessed from the Laurel Street entrance.

Palmer open throughout summer

Palmer Center remains open for business throughout the summer. Guests and students can visit Palmer Center by following the sidewalk from the west parking lot to the south entrance of the building.

Housing & Dining Services has intentionally scheduled this project over the summer to reduce impacts to residents. Your patience is appreciated as the improvements take place over the summer months.
