'Smashing the Ceiling'

The Asian Fest student organization (along with other sponsors listed below) present Magdalen Hsu-Li in a live, one-hour performance interspersed with dialogue.

Her show, called Smashing the Ceiling, includes songs from her new album by the same name and addresses the intersectionality of race, gender, and the arts.

"When I was writing the songs on this album, I felt I was experiencing a kind of quantum leap or personal gestalt. There were so many breakthroughs that happened to me personally, emotionally, musically, and spiritually. And I am a person that is about breaking barriers. That's why I chose to call it Smashing the Ceiling," says Magdalen.

Concert interspersed with dialogue

Her concert is a one-hour high energy, live music performance featuring Magdalen on vocals, guitar, piano, and percussion. Dialogue about identity, racism and bi, Asian American, and feminist issues is interspersed between songs and is implicit in many song themes & lyrics.
