Occupational Therapy renews international agreement with Japanese university

The Department of Occupational Therapy in the College of Applied Human Sciences renewed its ties to Yamagata Prefectural University of Health Sciences in a recent signing ceremony at Colorado State University. The International Memorandum of Understanding is the third agreement between the two Universities, a formal relationship which has been in existence since 2002.

Colorado State was pleased to host Akira Kusakabe, president of Yamagata Prefectural University, as well as Emiko Fukuda, the Occupational Therapy department head, Koji Ihashi, the Physical Therapy department head and director of the international program and Takao Yamashita, department head of Nursing.

The international visitors attended a signing ceremony with Jim Cooney, vice provost for international affairs, and Wendy Wood, department head of Occupational Therapy.

Student and faculty exchanges

The IMOU with Yamagata Prefectural University has resulted in several student and faculty exchanges, offering opportunities for increased international engagement for both universities. “We are excited to be renewing this important relationship and look forward to many more years of beneficial exchanges of knowledge and experiences between our two universities,” said Wendy Wood, department head.

OT program in Top 10

The Department of Occupational Therapy is ranked in the top 10 in the nation by U.S. News and World Report, recognized by Colorado State University as a Program of Research and Scholarly Excellence, and designated a Program of Excellence by the State of Colorado.
