Harvard investigates police use of cars, gas

Harvard University has investigated allegations that the top campus police department officials misused university-issued gas cards and police vehicles.

University employees have alleged that the police chief, Francis "Bud" Riley, has taken his cruiser on weekends to Vermont, where he owns a home, and has been seen filling up the car on his Harvard gas card.

This and other police department allegations were reported to a confidential outside hotline that hears allegations of Harvard workplace abuses and then reports them to university authorities.
