CSU marching band to light up the holidays

The renowned CSU marching band will preview its annual Parade of Lights performance with a free preview.

The CSU Marching Band will usher in the holiday season with a new tradition: Leading the annual Parade of Lights in downtown Denver.

First, though, the popular ensemble will give Fort Collins fans a free preview, marching around the University Center for the Arts at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29. Bedecked in twinkling holiday lights and with drums dressed up to looked like wrapped gifts, the 260-member band will make several counter-clockwise trips around the UCA.

Free refreshments

Following the free event, parade fans are invited into the UCA’s Griffin Lobby for refreshments. The Annual Holiday Gala, which begins at 7 p.m., follows in the Griffin Concert Hall.   

At 6 p.m. the following night – Friday, Nov. 30 – the band will lead off the 38th annual Parade of Lights. This will be the fourth consecutive year the band has led the parade’s opening night.

Alumni watch party

The performance coincides with a CSU watch party sponsored by the Alumni Association. Alumni and friends are invited to a reception at the CSU Denver Center, 475 17th Street, Ste. 100, that includes dinner, cookies, hot chocolate and a cash bar.

Preregistration is required to enjoy dinner and the CSU bleacher seats on 17th Street.
