Jazz trumpet star joins concert

Under director Peter Sommer, Jazz Ensemble I is joined by international jazz trumpet star Ingrid Jensen for an evening of modern big band music. The concert also features Jazz Ensemble II under the direction of Wil Swindler.

A major trumpet artist in New York for more than twenty years, Ingrid has recorded six CDs and has been featured prominently on three Grammy award winning discs and numerous Juno award winning albums.

“Ingrid Jensen is at the top of her field, a master of modern jazz trumpet playing and artistry,” said Sommer, Director of Jazz Bands at CSU.

“After hearing her as a star soloist in major big bands and her own small groups for many years, I’m really happy to have the opportunity to share her music with the students and CSU and our audience.”
