Big Bad Voodoo Daddy to headline at Homecoming

October 7, 2010

Colorado State University presents Big Bad Voodoo Daddy as part of the Homecoming and Family Weekend celebration Oct. 16. The band will perform during the CSU Homecoming football game halftime show and at an evening performance on campus.

Grammy nominated Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, a contemporary swing band from southern California, performed at the 1999 Super Bowl half-time show.

The halftime show collaboration between the CSU Marching Band and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy will be one of the highlight events of CSU’s homecoming weekend and the marching band’s season. Game time is noon, and tickets are available at www.csurams.com.

"The CSU Marching Band, in collaboration with Grammy nominated swing band Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, will kick school spirit into gear during the 10-minute show," said Christopher Nicholas, director of the CSU Marching Band.

The two bands will perform some of the swing band’s hit songs along with solo sections featuring Big Bad Voodoo Daddy’s instrumentalists and vocalist.

Original and interactive

"The halftime performance will be unlike anything ever seen at a CSU Homecoming game. It truly is an original and interactive arrangement. The shout chorus from the song, 'Go Daddy-O,' will have Ram fans going crazy," said Nicholas, who has worked directly with band members over the last few months.

Tickets still available

Following the football game, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy will perform an encore concert beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the Lory Student Center Main Ballroom. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

The event, Homecoming After Party featuring Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Bop Skizzum, and the CSU Idol Finale, is open to the public. Student tickets can be purchased for $10 each and non-student tickets for $21 each. Tickets can be purchased at the Lory Student Center Box Office at (970) 491-4849, online at www.csutix.com and will be available at the door the evening of the performance..
