Monfort Professors In Residence event Thursday

Three distinguished College of Liberal Arts alumni will discuss how their education at CSU helped them find success in the business world.

The College of Liberal Arts will host three distinguished Liberal Arts alumni to share how their experiences at CSU have helped them launch successful careers in business.

The lecture is set for 5 p.m. Thursday at the Organ Recital Hall in the University Centr for the Arts. The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required.

Distinguished panel

Tim Brown, president of business development at Concord Energy Holdings; Michael McKee, economics editor for Bloomberg TV and Radio; and Millete Birhanemaskel, partner and investment executive at PB Advisors, will form the panel. Speakers will discuss their current profession and engage with students who are exploring a similar career path.

Great opportunity for students

Students will have the chance to hear first-hand about the successes of those who have combined determination and a liberal arts background to change the face of business.

CSU faculty and staff will also have the opportunity to engage with the speakers and create opportunities for collaboration between the university and the guests.

About the speakers:Tim Brown

Tim Brown is president of business development for Concord Energy Holdings, an integrated commodity logistics and oilfield services company. Prior to his current role, he was the founder and CEO of Radius Media Holdings.

The companies of Radius Media provided a broad stratum of marketing platforms, including radio broadcasting; 18 owned and operated events in Colorado resort communities; large format graphical printing and signage; and venue sponsorship valuation, branding, partnership activation, sponsorship sales and the resale of digital billboards.

Brown's experience is in sales management in the high technology/telecommunications industry (1991-01), including time in Denver, Chicago and Sydney, Australia. He has worked for Cisco Systems, Alteon Web Systems (Nortel Networks), American Power Conversion and Xircom.

Michael McKeeMichael McKee is the economics editor for Bloomberg TV and Radio, covering market and political developments, economic trends and central banks in the U.S. and abroad. On TV he provides "The Real Deal" insight and analysis of the day's news. On radio, McKee is co-host of "Bloomberg On The Economy" and "A Touch of Clash," a weekly political program with former Sen. Al D'Amato and former New York City mayor Ed Koch.

McKee has covered European and Asian economies, Congress, the White House, the Federal Reserve and the Treasury Department. He is a regular at many international economic gatherings, including meetings of the G-7, the World Bank and IMF, APEC, and the World Economic Forum.

Prior to joining Bloomberg in 1995, McKee covered politics for a variety of news organizations including Newsweek magazine. He covered Capitol Hill and spent 10 years covering Presidents Reagan, George H.W. Bush, and Clinton. He has reported from more than 50 countries on six continents.

Millete BirhanemaskelMillete Birhanemaskel is a partner and Investment Executive at PB Advisors. She manages investments and is a strategic financial planner.

Birhanemaskel earned an Executive MBA from CSU and is the first woman appointed to the Colorado Economic Development Commission. She is a graduate of the Denver Chamber of Commerce Leadership Denver.

Prior to becoming a licensed advisor, Birhanemaskel was a reporter for six years. Highlights of her career include covering the election of Africa’s first female president, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf in Liberia, as well as being awarded Journalist of the Year by the National Association of Black Journalists Region IV.
