American concertos for organ, orchestra

The University Center for the Arts is hosting a Gala concert featuring American concertos for organ and orchestra.

Four internationally acclaimed soloists will perform, as well as the Fort Collins Symphony, conducted by Wes Kenney

Featuring Ken Cowan, James David Christie, and Joel Bacon.

A reception will follow the concert.

The program

  • Concerto for Organ, Harp and Strings by Howard Hanson, performed by Joyce Jones;
  • the famous Samuel Barber Adagio for Strings (orchestra only) and his “Toccata festiva” (James David Christie, organ); and
  • a concerto for two organists — four hands and four feet — by the young composer, Aaron David Miller (Joel Bacon and Ken Cowan, organ).
