Inaugural Cancun Governor's Cup

While most of us were enjoying our holidays last week, Men's Basketball traveled to Cancun, Mexico and collected the Cancun Governor's Cup with wins over Appalachian State (82-79), Ole Miss (68-61), and Southern Mississippi (63-58).

Game high points

In the final game on Friday, Dec. 24 against Southern Mississippi, Senior forward Travis Franklin tallied a career-high 25 points. The Rams then hit 11-of-12 free-throws in the final 3:02, including 7-of-8 from Franklin and a huge three-point play from Andy Ogide, to seal the 63-58 victory.

Ogide finished with 15 points on 5-of-7 shooting and 5-of-5 from the free-throw line. Dorian Green chipped in with seven points, all in the second half, and added six rebounds to finish one shy of his career best.

The win moves Colorado State to 8-3 on the season, and pushes the Rams’ current win streak to four games.

MWC Player of the Week

Colorado State senior Travis Franklin has been named the Mountain West Conference men’s basketball Player of the Week for games through December 26. It marks the first career weekly accolade for Franklin.

Basketball Border War, Jan. 4

Rams Basketball will play the Wyoming Cowboys in the 2011 Mountain West Conference opener for both schools. The game will be televised live on The Mtn.

If the Rams defeat the Cowboys, fans will receive vouchers good for $1 general admission to the next home game - Saturday, Jan. 15 vs. TCU. While students are away on break, the student sections will be used for general admission - the only way to get one of these $1 general admission tickets is to attend the CSU/WYO game and cheer the fans on to victory.

With the spring semester starting soon, Jan. 4 will be the last date for the "Rams Win, Fans Win" promotion.

  • Adults - $15
  • Kids - $8

CSU students can still attend home games for free during winter break. For tickets, call 1-800-491-RAMS or purchase online.
